While listening to the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast this weekend, we stumbled across a fun gem connecting Billie Eilish, FINNEAS, and Pixar. And, no, this isn’t about their connection to Turning Red.
Billie Eilish and FINNEAS used the Coco Cordoba guitar to record the title track to her album, “Happier Than Ever.”
During the show, Finneas noted that he wanted a smaller guitar to use in their tour bus lounge area. Billie noted they “immediately wrote Happier Than Ever and then recorded it with that guitar.”
COCO x CORDOBA GUITARS DETAILS
There were three guitars in the Coco x Cordoba collaboration – the Mini, the 7/8 scale, and the official movie replica (only 20 were made). Sadly, the guitars are no longer for sale as new and can only be found on resale websites.
We reviewed the same mini Coco Cordoba guitar that FINNEAS used and enjoyed it for its portability and ease of play. Our review was even featured on the Cordoba website – check it out, or read/watch our review.
TURNING RED CONNECTION
Of course, when Finneas talked about the guitar, we couldn’t help but think he may have been inspired to pick up a Pixar-themed Coco guitar based on Billie and FINNEAS’ work on the movie Turning Red.
Billie and FINNEAS were the lead writers for the boy band 4*TOWN‘s songs throughout the film. FINNEAS provided the vocals for 4*TOWN member Jesse and even performed the song Nobody Like U at his 2022 Coachella appearance.
What a fun anecdote about the Coco guitar and Happier Than Ever – we love when these types of stories come up.
