Lee Unkrich recently talked with the LA Times about his upcoming movie about Dia de Los Muertos and among the details about the celebration, he also reveals that he’s days away from pitching his story ideas to the “brain trust” at Pixar.
The group is probably comprised of some of the key players you would expect — John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, and Pete Docter. Unkrich noted that these sessions are a “no holds barred” honesty session about the ideas and can sometimes be intimidating to have your ideas torn apart and notes that, “The trick is, you have to be willing to contribute your own bad idea, so we can all get to the good ones” he said.
Lee thought his final quote in the article (as shown above) was a bit confusing so he posted the following tweet today to help clarify his point.
If there’s one thing we can count on, it’s an inspirational word from the Pixar directing team – thanks for this one Lee!
