Now that’s what I call an unboxing! Heimlich from the now-closed Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train from Disney’s California Adventure has found his way home to Pixar Animation Studios. The beloved attraction was part of ‘A Bug’s Land,’ (themed after Pixar’s second feature film, A Bug’s Life) which closed this past Fall 2018. While Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train wasn’t near thrill-ride status, the fan following was enormous — almost as big as Heimlich’s appetite, with guests giggling at all of his silly phrases, “Carrots are orange…just like candy corn!”

The man behind Heimlich’s voice and many other Pixar characters is the late Joe Ranft who passed away in 2005. Hired at Pixar in 1991 as the head of the story department, Ranft worked on numerous films including Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, and Cars. It is only fitting that a part of Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train is now settled-in “at home” at Pixar Animation Studios.

For fans wanting to hear more of Heimlich’s silly phrases, visit Heimlich’s Candy Corn Toss along the newly reimagined Pixar Pier where numerous audio clips from the attraction are now being used.
