Stage Adaptation of Pixar’s ‘Coco’ Currently Under Development

Disney on Broadway Confirms Coco Stage Show Adaptation.

During the Broadway Concert Series at EPCOT’s International Festival of the Arts (January 24, 2023), performer L. Steven Taylor (known for his work in The Lion King on Broadway) announced that Coco is currently in development to become a live stage show.

Immediately following the exciting announcement, performer Mandy Gonzalez (In The Heights, Hamilton) belted out a beautiful rendition of the Academy Award-winning song “Remember Me” from Coco. The announcement and performance were captured on video by Laughing Place, which can be viewed below or directly on YouTube.

Disney on Broadway or more commonly known as Disney Theatrical Productions was formed on February 8, 1993 – nearly 30 years ago. The first production, Beauty and the Beast, opened on Broadway at the Palace Theater on April 18, 1994. While Disney has had several animation adaptations from screen to stage, Coco will be the first Pixar adaptation.
