‘Cars on the Road’ Official Title and Concept Artwork Revealed on Disney+ Day

The official title and some concept artwork for the Fall 2022 Pixar Cars series was revealed on Disney+ Day.

Who else is ready to get back on the road with Lightning McQueen, Mater, and the whole Radiator Springs gang? Since the announcement during Disney+ Day, we’ve been joking that we’re ready to top off at Flo’s and hit the road!

Rumored back in 2019 and officially announced as a Disney+ Cars series during the 2020 Disney Investor Day, we now know the official title is Cars on the Road. The updated title also lets us know that the gang will be traveling on many adventures as part of the story.

Supporting those adventures are three stunning pieces of concept artwork by Steve Purcell, officially titled Dino Park, Road Warriors, and Bigfoot. Additionally, a fully rendered view of Mater outfitted with rocket engines (shown above) was released in the 4-minute Pixar tour video Pete Docter hosted on Disney+.

The other big news is that Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy will be back to voice Lightning McQueen and Mater, respectively.

The return of Owen is perfect because although Keith Ferguson has voiced McQueen in Cars Toons and some other non-feature film properties, you can’t beat Owen Wilson for his original Lightning vocal work.

The series will premiere on Disney+ in 2022 (previously noted as Fall 2022, but now said to be 2022). We believe this will be in September, but this date could change, and we’ll update as we know more.
