Is it too early to talk about Pixar’s next film, Turning Red? Definitely not. In fact, Pixar Post Forum user, MonstersIncorporated spotted a trailer rating (via The Dis Insider, via British Board of Film Classifications) for Turning Red which notes that it is scheduled to drop July 12, 2021, and comes in at two minutes in length.
While we have passed the normal time which the trailer would drop for July 12 (either 6:00 or 9:00 AM PT typically), the editor of The Dis Insider has said that it will drop July 13.
We’re not sure why the trailers are rated as “A” and “B,” though our assumption is that there are either two versions for varied languages or differences for localization.
Additionally, Forum user pixarfan noticed that the O Camundongo Twitter posted the official Brazilian title and tagline was released. The tagline is translated from Portuguese to say, “Growing up is a Beast.” That tagline definitely fits the bill for the movie and plays along with the troubles of growing up during your teen years — and, literally mirrors that the lead character, Mei turns into a Red Panda.
In Turning Red, Mei Lee is a confident, dorky thirteen-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. And as if changes to her interests, relationships, and body weren’t enough, whenever she gets too excited (which for a teenager is practically ALWAYS), she “poofs” into a giant red panda! Turning Red is directed by Academy Award-winner Domee Shi (Pixar short BAO), produced by Lindsey Collins and coming to theaters in Spring, 2022.
It should also be noted that Pixar’s official site lists the release date as Spring 2022, but it was previously noted that it would be March 11, 2022. We’ll see if the March 11 date is announced when the teaser trailer is released, or if it still says Spring 2022.
