Today is the day that we’ve been anxiously awaiting – the day of the 88th Annual Academy Awards. As the award circuit comes to a close, Pixar’s Inside Out took home Oscar gold for Best Animated Feature Film – making it the studio’s eighth film to win the category.

Accepting the award was director Pete Docter and producer Jonas Rivera who excitedly stated “we are so lucky…regardless of a gold man or not we get to make stuff.”

This Academy Award Ceremony marked a first for the studio as producer Jonas Rivera picked up the golden statuette for his role in Inside Out. The Best Animated Feature award was amended the year of the 86th Annual Academy Awards to include an award for one producer and up to two directors – making Jonas Rivera the first Pixar producer to win an Oscar.

Earlier today Pete Docter took over the official Pixar Instagram page with various photos leading up to the award ceremony, below are some of our favorites.

Congratulations to the entire Inside Out team for this latest recognition honoring their hard work!
