Toy Story of Terror – Additional Sneak Peek Details From the D23 Expo

Although we’ve known some details surrounding Pixar’s first television special, Toy Story of Terror, for a while now, today we learned a tremendous amount more…like which toy goes missing from the gang. Most notably, we found out that the official air date for the 30-minute mini-feature will be October 16 at 8:00 PM local time (ABC Network). So how do we know which toy goes missing? Well, the capacity crowd was shown the first ten minutes of the film and Comingsoon.net was live blogging the event.

We don’t want to give away too much, so if you’re interested, head over to Comingsoon’s coverage and scroll to the time marker of 11:48 to read all about it. We will say that the short starts with the gang watching a Dracula movie in the trunk of the car while Mr. Pricklepants criticizes all of the typical cliches you would find in a horror movie. After Bonnie’s Mom’s car gets a flat tire, the gang pulls up to a hotel to stop at for the night. Mr. Pricklepants then says that this exact scenario is the perfect setup for a horror movie. And Scene!

That is a brilliant way to get you immediately into the scene – heck, you’ve got to get going right away since it’s a 30-minute special (with commercials). If you don’t know the main synopsis for the Toy Story of Terrorcheck out our previous post where we discuss the main characters and high-level story details.

Keep the conversation going in our Pixar Post Forum. Did you see the 10-minute preview at the Expo – or did you read the summary? If so, what did you think?

  1. My guess would be that there wouldn't be a preview since it's only a 30 minute TV special…but only time will tell! They'll probably be a few commercials coming up as we get closer, but it would only be a quick 30-second preview most likely.
