In the upcoming thirty-minute television presentation, Toy Story of Terror (airing on ABC in October), we follow the Toy Story gang in a precarious mission to locate a missing friend. On the gang’s first adventure outside of Bonnie’s house, Bonnie’s Mom gets a flat tire on the way to Grandma’s house which forces an evening stay at a roadside motel. A frightening series of chaotic events is sure to take place.
Although we discussed additional story details (with comments from the director, Angus MacLane) in an earlier article, we were excited to learn today (via Film Music Reporter) that Michael Giacchino is set to score the film. Michael’s work for Pixar is widespread as he has worked on everything from The Incredibles, Up, One Man Band, and La Luna (among many others), and we’re sure his mastery of suspense will translate perfectly in this terrifying tale.
UPDATED: The score is now available, read our full review here.
Great news!! I'm a big fan of Michael! Five bucks on a track called \”100 Toy Dash\” to be featured 😀
Hey Gendry – nice!
I sure hope Giacchino keeps the same feel and tone that Randy Newman did for the films.
Oh, that will be an interesting to see how the feelings compare and contrast. I'm not sure Michael will be able to keep the same feel and tone though since their styles are so different.Remember that we've seen a few Toy Story shorts (Hawaiian Vacation, PartySaurus Rex, etc) that haven't been scored by Newman…but those are only shorts and not a 30-minute special. Will be interesting to see for sure!
