Monstropolis Contruction Update

Aerial Updates to Monstropolis in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios will transform the Muppets Courtyard into Monstropolis, inspired by Pixar’s Monsters, Inc., as announced during the 2024 D23 Expo. This new land will feature immersive storytelling, dining options, and a door coaster attraction, with updates expected in 2026.

Disney and Pixar fans are getting a closer look at the future of Monstropolis coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. During the 2024 D23 Expo, it was announced that Monstropolis, inspired by Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. would be heading to the Walt Disney World Resort.

The re-imagined land promises to transform the former Muppets Courtyard area into the bustling monster Metropolis filled with immersive storytelling, themed dining (Harryhausen’s), and the highly anticipated door coaster attraction. While there has yet to be a definitive date or timeline, we’re hoping that will be revealed during the 2026 D23 Expo event this August.

Newly released aerial footage showcases just how quickly construction is moving (footage via bioreconstruct).

It’s so amazing to see the transformation and to see just how gigantic this new Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster will be!

In addition, DSNY Newscast shared a mock-up of what they imagine the coaster track will be – including show buildings, queues, etc.
