Conan O’Brien has announced that he will voice a new character, Smarty Pants, in Toy Story 5. Check out Conan’s follow-up announcement via his YouTube channel.
TOY STORY 5 SMARTY PANTS ANNOUNCEMENT
Disney announced the news Monday during the Consumer Products presentation at the Licensing Expo (via TheWrap). The Licensing Expo takes place from May 20-22, 2025 – so, it makes us wonder if we’ll catch a glimpse of the new character on display at a Disney or Mattel toy booth. Let us know if you spot anything.
Speaking of Conan, could anyone be better suited to voice a presumably fast-talking, smart-aleck, know-it-all? If you listen to his podcast or have watched any of his shows (Conan O’Brien Must Go on HBO Max, Late Night With Conan O’Brien, etc.), you know he brings a frenetic, comedic energy to everything he does. We’re huge fans of Conan’s, so this was exciting news for us.
SMARTY PANTS or SMARTYPANTS?
Additionally, at this time, we’re not 100% sure if the character’s name is “Smarty Pants” or “Smartypants,” although we assume it will be two words. It’s funnier (in our minds) to view it as a separate first and last name.
TOY STORY 5 DETAILS
The toys are back in Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5, and this time around, it’s Toy meets Tech. Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and the rest of the gang’s jobs get exponentially harder when they go head to head with this all-new threat to playtime. Directed by Andrew Stanton, co-directed by McKenna Harris, and produced by Jessica Choi, Toy Story 5 opens in theaters on June 19, 2026.
