Pixar Animation Studios has quite a bit to be joyful about as Inside Out 2 has officially surpassed $1.46 billion in global ticket sales (and growing) — making the film the highest-grossing animated feature film of all time.
Surpassing the previous record holder, Frozen II ($1.453 billion), Inside Out 2 is expected to continue its box office momentum as the film has yet to be released in Japan (August 1).
In our latest Pixar Post Podcast, T.J. shares his mathematical spreadsheet equation for predicting this box office success — well, he thought it would come in just under Frozen II, but he deliberated for a long time. Happily, he was wrong!

As Inside Out 2 takes the title of the highest-grossing animated film of all time, there is just one more record for the film to surpass — the highest domestic-grossing animated film.
The current record is held by another Pixar film, Incredibles 2 ($608 million), and Inside Out 2 is closing the gap at $601 million. Could Inside Out 2 break another record? We think so!
Congratulations to the entire Pixar team on this phenomenal accomplishment.
