Inside Out 2 Trailer Highlights New Emotions

Do you remember the emotions you felt around the time you crossed into your teen years? In Pixar’s Inside Out 2, Riley turns 13 and Headquarters starts to get a little crowed with the addition of a few new emotions.

Today, March 7, Pixar released the first official Inside Out 2 trailer highlighting the qualities of these four new emotions. While we previously met Anxiety, it was fantastic to meet Envy, Ennui, and Embarrassment. Each new emotion truly emotes their feeling in visual form – from Envy’s wide eyes, and Ennui’s complete lack of attention, to Embarrassment falling over and inadvertingly showing their intergluteal cleft – these new emotions have intrigued us.

The nearly 2-minute and 30-second trailer features Riley at (what appears to be) a Hockey camp and the struggle she faces meeting new friends and trying to fit in, all the while juggling old friends and relationships. As Riley’s life appears to be a little unsteady, headquarters itself is feeling a bit off. Pixar has once again hooked us in with the notion that the “Fab 5” emotions (Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger) are being taken away and “suppressed” with Anxiety seemingly running Headquarters among an orange glow.

Inside Out 2 Mind Workers

One of our favorite scenes from the trailer features the “sar-chasm” with Joy yelling toward a pair of mind workers and by the time her voice reaches them it changes to a sarcastic tone – brilliant!

In addition, one of the mind workers is voiced by John Ratzenberger. If you recall, Ratzenberger voiced a worker in the first film, as well. The last time we heard Ratzenberger in a Pixar film was Onward (2020) and the last time we visually saw a character of him was in Soul (2020).
