Pixar Plaza Opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Pixar fans can rejoice as Disney announces Pixar Plaza at Hollywood Studios where fans can meet their favorite Pixar friends.

Do you remember the Pixar-themed area of Hollywood Studios before Toy Story Land opened up? That area was called Pixar Place and resembled the famed studio from the Pixar Animation Studios marquee to the actual bricks used to make the buildings. Pixar Place housed Toy Story Midway Mania, a popcorn snack stand, a souvenir kiosk area, and a meet-and-greet with Buzz Lightyear and Woody.

Since the opening of Toy Story Land in 2018, the old Pixar Place transformed into an Incredibles-themed area featuring a meet-and-greet with Mr. and Mrs. Incredible including several Jack-Jack statues hidden throughout. However, with the Covid-19 pandemic, the Pixar Place area sat quiet and provided shade to enjoy a snack and reminisce about when the area was once a bustling Pixar metropolis.

Today May 15, Disney unveiled that the area has been reimagined and is now called Pixar Plaza (see photos and video embedded below). Pixar Plaza showcases vibrant Pixar graphics with several meet-and-greet opportunities – including Sulley from Monsters, Inc. As of the posting of this article, the official My Disney Experience app no longer lists Sulley as a character experience in the Walt Disney Presents building.

In addition to Sulley, you’ll see that the main meet and greet area has been transformed into an area to meet the one and only seamstress to the superheroes, Edna Mode. Guests will also find Frozone and Mr. and Mrs. Incredible walking around. While details have yet to come out regarding other Pixar characters we can only hope that other Pixar characters may make their way into the Plaza at some point, like Ian and Barley Lightfoot (Onward), Remy and Emile (Ratatouille), and perhaps Ember and Wade from Pixar’s latest film Elemental.
