Variety is reporting some fantastic news from Pixar Animation Studios today. They note that Lindsey Collins and Domee Shi have both received promotions to leadership roles within the studio. Lindsey has an approximately 25-year career at Pixar and is being promoted from VP of Development to Senior VP of Development (leading the Development team). Having most recently worked as the Producer of Turning Red (alongside Domee as the film’s Director), this is a well-deserved advancement for Lindsey.

Domee’s promotion to Vice President of Creative was quietly updated on Pixar’s website on November 26, 2021, (prior to Turning Red‘s release) but this is the first we’ve seen her promotion discussed more broadly. We cannot state enough how deserving Domee is for this next phase of her (sure to be) long career.

Employees within Pixar often sing Domee’s praise, noting her vision, ability to clearly communicate that vision, and her interest in pushing the art form beyond what’s expected. In our interactions with Domee, we can certainly attest to a level of confidence and humbleness that is not commonly seen at this phase of a person’s career – we’re thrilled for what’s to come.

The Variety article also includes a statement from Lindsey, who notes “Pixar has always been a place that seeks to delight and surprise audiences and I am thrilled to be able to expand on that legacy and help shape what comes next, surrounded by some of the most diverse, unique and inspiring filmmakers and voices working today.”

Congratulations to both Lindsey and Domee on this news. For more details on the Studios’ leadership team, head over to Pixar’s website.
