D23 Expo – Annual Disney Fan Expo Moved From 2021 to 2022

The 2021 D23 Expo has just been moved from its expected 2021 release to September 9-11, 2022 – read more

If you are a Disney fan, you know that the D23 Expo (held bi-annually in Anaheim, California) is the ultimate fan experience. As you can imagine with the ever-present COVID-19, the upcoming D23 Expo which was unofficially set for 2021 has officially been moved to September 9-11, 2022 in an overabundance of caution (and to ease planning and booking for fans).

What does this mean for the Pixar feature film announcements which would have been featured during the 2021 event? Well, we assume that we’ll find out a lot more about Luca, and the two untitled films planned for release in 2022 (March 11 and June 17) in other press releases and announcements rather than on the stage. We’ll have the June 16, 2023, and 2024 films to look forward to (hopefully) getting a sneak peek on the D23 stage!

What surprises us most about the date reschedule isn’t so much the year change with everything going on — but, we are a little surprised to see the shift in months — past D23 Expos have taken place in July or August. With the shift to September, we wonder if perhaps the Anaheim Convention Center was already booked for summer dates in 2022.
