‘Toy Story 4’ Honored with BAFTA and VES Award Nominations

Nominations for the 72nd Annual BAFTAs (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) were released with Pixar receiving a nomination for Best Animated Feature. The BAFTA Awards are held in Central London (February 2, 2020) and considered to be the British version of the Academy Awards. Mirroring the Academy Awards, the Best Animated Feature Film category was a late addition to the award show with the BAFTAs inclusion in 2006 (the Academy Awards back in 2002).

Pixar Animation Studios has won the coveted Best Animated Film BAFTA seven times and has received a total of 11 nominations. See below for a complete history of the Best Animated Feature Film category winners.

  • 2006 – Happy Feet (Cars received a nomination)
  • 2007 – Ratatouille
  • 2008 – WALL-E
  • 2009 – Up
  • 2010 – Toy Story 3
  • 2011 – Rango (Cars 2 was omitted)
  • 2012 – Brave
  • 2013 – Frozen (Monsters University received a nomination)
  • 2014 – The Lego Movie (No Pixar Animation Studios film was released)
  • 2015 – Inside Out (The Good Dinosaur was omitted)
  • 2016 – Kubo and the Two Strings – (Finding Dory received a nomination)
  • 2017 – Coco
  • 2018 – Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse (Incredibles 2 received a nomination)
  • 2019 – Award show taking place on Feb. 2, 2020

VES Award Nominations 

The nominations for the 18th annual Visual Effects Society Awards have been announced with Toy Story 4 honored with an impressive 5 nominations. The Visual Effects Society (VES) is the entertainment industry’s only organization representing the full breadth of visual effects practitioners including artists, technologists, model makers, educators, studio leaders and producers in all areas of entertainment from film, television, commercials and games. Below is a list of all of the animation-related categories with the Pixar nominations bolded.
