Tonight was a celebration of animation’s top honors — tonight was the night of the 46th Annual Annie Awards. The Annie Awards are presented to those who excel in the animation field and are voted upon by professionals of ASIFA Hollywood (International Animated Film Association).

Pixar Animation Studios received a total of 11 nominations for Incredibles 2 and took home two awards for Outstanding Storyboarding (Dean Kelly) and Outstanding Music (Michael Giacchino) in an Animated Feature Production. Watch a brief wrap-up video of Pixar at the Annie Awards embedded below, or directly on our Pixar Post YouTube channel. (Read even more below for the touching tribute to Adam Burke and Ralph Eggleston’s Winsor McCay Award.)

The June Foray Award, which is given to individuals in recognition of a significant and benevolent impact within the industry of animation, was presented by director Brad Bird who gave an eloquent speech about the late Adam Burke. The 26-year veteran of the animation industry, Adam, worked on several hand-drawn films before his career brought him to Pixar Animation Studios (2003), where he worked on Cars, Ratatouille, Wall-E, Up, Toy Story 3, Cars 2, Monsters University and Incredibles 2.

Accepting the award was Kim (Adam’s wife), who shared her appreciation for all the love and support she and their two boys have received. It was also announced that the hospital visits that Pixar Animation Studios takes part in (shepherded by Adam Burke), will be now dedicated and named in his honor. We regret not being able to capture Brad and Kim’s tribute and acceptance of the award in our video, but if we find it, we’ll be sure to update our post.

Academy Award-winning director, animator and art director, Ralph Eggleston was also this year’s recipient of the Winsor McCay award. As Eggleston accepted the award, he graciously thanked his mentors, peers, friends and congratulated all the nominees and winners of the night (watch his full speech in the video above).
