The 2019 London Toy Fair was held last week (January 22-24) with Disney revealing a special glimpse at some of the new Toy Story 4 toys coming from Thinkway Toys. The showcase featured three unique toys, an Interactive Drop-Down Buzz Lightyear, an Interactive Drop-Down Woody, and a talking Forky figure. The interactive Buzz and Woody will collapse on-command and respond to questions allowing for key story elements to enhance playtime.
Disney and Thinkway also revealed that new character, Forky will have a dedicated line of products, ranging from an Interactive Forky (which walks, talks and dances), a Talking Action Figure, and Walk and Tap Forky.
The worrisome new member of Bonnie’s room was first revealed in the first Toy Story 4 teaser and is a craft project who insists he doesn’t belong with the other toys. “The world of Toy Story is built upon the idea that everything in the world has a purpose,” director Josh Cooley said in a statement. “A toy’s purpose is to be there for its child. But what about toys that are made out of other objects? Forky is a toy that Bonnie made out of a disposable spork, so he’s facing a crisis. He wants to fulfill his purpose as a spork, but now has a new toy purpose thrust upon him.”
Claire Terry, commercial director, hardlines at The Walt Disney Company, noted: “We are so pleased we are able to showcase Thinkway’s new lines at London Toy Fair, from the drop-down Woody and Buzz products to the interactive toy featuring new character Forky. The innovation and storytelling that went into developing these toys, is second to none, and we are sure that consumers will have a fantastic experience with them. We also can’t wait to showcase the full product portfolio across multiple licensees and retailers in the spring ahead of the film’s June release.”
