John Lasseter Reveals ‘Incredibles 2’ Picks up Minutes After the First Film Ends

John Lasseter reveals that ‘Incredibles 2’ will start just minutes after the first films ends with an epic scene with the Underminer.

The 2017 D23 Expo is now underway, and early this morning John Lasseter revealed a few new details on the upcoming Incredibles 2 film.

Speaking with IGN, Lasseter stated that Brad Bird will be directing and writing the sequel and that film will pick up right as the last one left off, “It starts with the Underminer and a big old set piece. You know that at the end of the first movie when he comes up, and you see the family dressed as superheroes, well that’s where start this movie.” 

While there weren’t any plot details or in-depth character profiles noted, John did mention his fondness for the “hilarious” role of the Parr’s toddler son, “Jack-Jack is fantastic in Incredibles 2.”

There are bound to be additional details on Incredibles 2 during the Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios Upcoming Films Presentation (hosted by John Lasseter) which will take place today (July 14) at 2:30 PM PST.

Underminer and Incredibles Family

Earlier this week it was revealed through the official D23 app that a trio of Pixar veterans will be on-hand for the superhero sequel.

The Producer for Incredibles 2 will be Nicole Paradis Grindle (Simulation Manager on the first film), Ralph Eggleston was announced as the Production Designer (Art Director on the first film), and John Walker (Producer on the first film) will all be joining Brad Bird once again.
