Will Martin Hynes be Joining the ‘Toy Story 4’ Screenwriting Team?

Could Toy Story 4 be gaining an additional screenwriter to the film? Martin Hynes joins the crew of Toy Story 4.

Could Toy Story 4 be gaining an additional screenwriter? Today it was revealed (via Variety and Rolling Stone) that screenwriter Martin Hynes is attached to the upcoming Toy Story 4 film.

However, there were no additional details regarding if Hynes would simply be joining the previously announced screenwriters, Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, or if he will be taking over the screenwriting duties himself.

As we previously reported, Toy Story 4 pushed its theatrical release date back a year (to 2019) – while The Incredibles 2 was moved to the June 15, 2018, theatrical release slot. As studios typically change release dates with films, Toy Story 4 has had three ‘known’ dates – first announced for 2017, then slated for June 15, 2018, and now set for June 21, 2019.

While no official word from Pixar has been released on the screenwriter change/addition, we do know that the confirmed crew members include; John Lasseter as director, Josh Cooley (Riley’s First Date) as co-director, and Galyn Susman (Toy Story of TERROR!) as the producer for the film.

“We love these characters so much; they are like family to us. We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before. Toy Story 3 ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another Toy Story movie. But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie—and I wanted to direct it myself.”
