This evening during the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, a brand new 30-second Cars 3 TV spot aired featuring some familiar faces — Mater and Fillmore. Although most of the footage has previously been shown in existing trailers, this was the first time we’ve seen a clear image of Mater (and heard him speak).
Fillmore also has a quick line, “It’s futile to resist change, man”, which he delivers in his signature hippie-style tone. What’s interesting about Fillmore’s statement is that it mirrors a major theme of the movie — Lightning’s struggle with aging and no longer being on top of the racing world.
