The 21st Annual Critics Choice Awards were held tonight (January 17, 2016) at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. The hours-long award show celebrates cinematic achievement in various categories similar to the Golden Globes and Academy Awards.
Pixar Animation Studios was nominated for three awards as Inside Out gained nominations for Best Animated Feature, Best Comedy, and Best Original Screenplay, The Good Dinosaur was honored with one nomination for Best Animated Feature. Due to the time constraints of The Critics Choice Awards, a few recipients were given their awards on the red carpet with the first award of the night going to Pete Docter and Jonas Rivera as Inside Out won for Best Animated Feature.
During their red carpet acceptance speech, the duo praised the work of the entire team (270 to be exact) as well as Ronnie Del Carmen, Meg LeFauve, and Josh Cooley. What excited us about the speech was when Pete and Jonas revealed their hopes for an Inside Out-themed ride at a Disney Park.
“Literally 15 minutes after coming up with this idea we were already talking about this could be a ride (at Disneyland).”Pete Docter
