Pixar’s bi-annual Motorama took place Friday, July 17 which celebrated the world of cars…not the movie, but actual automobiles instead. Pixar employees and invited guests were able to stroll the studio’s grounds and view cars of all sorts (classic, soon-to-be-released vehicles & even concept vehicles) while they enjoyed some barbecue and music.
Celebrating its 13th anniversary, Pixar’s Motorama was once an annual car show — however, it now alternates every other year with another popular studio event, “Pixarpalooza” which showcases musical talent within the studio.

One of our favorite series of photos that were shared from the event highlighted the sketches created by character designer, Jay Shuster. A Pixarian for over 10 years, Jay has worked on many projects within the studio including both Cars films, Wall-E and even came up with the popular “What up Fishes?!” line in the short Partysaurus Rex. In addition to some of the photos shared from Motorama, the official Instagram account for Oh My Disney featured a short video of Shuster bringing one of his car caricatures to life.

As a parting fun fact – in 2010 for the tenth anniversary of Motorama, a special edition 1:55 scale Lightning McQueen was given to guests who attended the event.
