Inside Out may not be hitting theaters for another 260 days (June 19, 2015), but the excitement for the film has been felt among Pixar fans for what seems like an eternity (CinemaCon 2012 announcement). Today marks “opening season” for news related to the upcoming film with the release of the first one-minute-and-thirty-five-second trailer, a news article, and a promotional website for the film. The trailer, released on Pixar’s YouTube channel, showcases many of the emotional moments from past Pixar films and then takes us to the main attraction – some sneak peeks from the film while listening to the soothing bass riff of Aerosmith’s, Sweet Emotion.
PROMOTIONAL SITE
In addition to the release of the first teaser trailer, Pixar has also launched a new promotional website called Inside Out Motion Poster (UPDATED: The link has been removed since the website is no longer active) where it links to all the additional sites, including the soon-to-be-launched, official Disney website based on the movie. The movie/motion poster from the website is embedded below.
NEWS ARTICLES
Entertainment Weekly has also posted an exclusive article with additional details about the plot, background, and discussion with Director, Pete Docter. Most interestingly, the article notes –
“Inside Out was inspired by the Up director’s young daughter Elie, whose entry into adolescence transformed her from a mischievous girl into a “quiet” pre-teen. “[As parents] we were like, ‘Wow, that’s so unlike her, what’s going on her brain?’” recalls Docter, who made his directorial debut with Monsters Inc. “And that’s what lead to the heart of the story—the question of what goes on inside our own minds.”
“[Joy] goes to places like dream productions, where dreams are shot live every night in this massive Hollywood studio with a backlot, props, and costumes,” says Docter. “Hopefully there will be multiple places where everyone just goes, ‘Whoa.’”
“And while the original idea for the film was inspired by events at home, Docter’s extensive research on emotional intelligence with neurologists convinced him that traditional human-like forms just wouldn’t do for his expressive characters.”
“Emotions are completely bonkers, so we wanted to convey that,” says Docter, who eventually settled on a design featuring “energetic points of light” reminiscent of firing neural pathways.”
Oh My Disney has also released the full-sized teaser poster with the tagline – Consider our heartstrings sufficiently tugged, and our tickets pre-ordered. Inside Out comes to theaters June 19, 2015.

Alright, another set of creative artwork…I like the twist of what the emotions would look like if they belonged to Mike Wazowski! 🙂
