Pixar’s latest feature short, The Blue Umbrella hits theaters on June 21 with the release of Monsters University. Back in March, we were lucky enough to speak with director Saschka Unseld as well as view The Blue Umbrella in its entirety. Unseld was gracious and engaging as we spoke of the technical details, charming music, and this short film’s sheer beauty.
Since then, Unseld has been busy trekking to film festivals showing the hard work that he and his talented crew put into The Blue Umbrella. Earlier this month director Saschka Unseld and producer Marc Greenberg discuss The Blue Umbrella in this interview from Young Guns at the SXSW festival in Austin, TX.
In February 2012 Unseld released a Tumblr site, appropriately named Rainy City Tales 332 (UPDATED: The website is no longer active) which cataloged the process of making The Blue Umbrella in both photos and videos.
