Videogamer recently discussed the newly announced Disney Infinity game with the executive producer, John Vignocchi, and noted that the game is planned to have a new release once per year. During the conversation, it was also noted that the game itself will be presented on a hard copy disc, rather than a digital download. The issue that Video Gamer brought up is that with a game provided on a disc, it leaves the potential for hackers to explore the code on the disc and potentially reveal unreleased characters in the game. John acknowledged this and expressed that the game will be released as a digital download to avoid this issue in the future.
Due to the fact that you’ll also have a multitude of characters for Disney Infinity (version 1), John put many gamers’ minds at ease when he stated that the game will maintain forward and backward compatibility from version to version.
Although an official release date hasn’t been announced, several comments have been floating around Twitter noting that Stitch Kingdom is reporting a release date of June 18, 2013. Although that is an unconfirmed report, in a follow-up post on Videogamers’ website, Vignocchi also notes that character releases are scheduled to coincide with the release date of movies. June 18 would line up with the movie release of Monsters University which hits theaters on June 21, 2013. Another user on Twitter also noted that the UK release for the game may be scheduled for June 28, 2013.
Amazon UK has been listing several images in the last week of the packaging for the upcoming game. We really like the large, bright imagery with the clean, square blister pack on the front of the card – it really highlights the character nicely.
