Peter Sohn Named Director of ‘Incredibles 3’

Pixar has appointed Peter Sohn as director for Incredibles 3, with Dana Murray producing. Sohn, a veteran at Pixar, has previously directed The Good Dinosaur and Elemental. Brad Bird’s role remains unclear, though he is working on the Netflix film Ray Gun. The film’s release may be in 2027 or 2028.

Pixar announces Peter Sohn as the director for Incredibles 3, alongside Producer Dana Murray.

Pixar Veteran Sohn has not only voiced numerous iconic characters but has also directed both The Good Dinosaur and the Oscar-nominated film Elemental. News of the announcement may have fans wondering why filmmaker Brad Bird isn’t reclaiming the director’s role, as he previously wrote and directed the first two films.

While Bird’s involvement with Incredibles 3 has yet to be revealed, we can only wonder if he had a hand in shaping the film’s storyline. As of late, Brad Bird has been busy working on his Netflix film, Ray Gun, set to release in 2026.

We are very excited about Sohn taking on the Incredibles franchise, as he has worked closely with Bird for many years, including on both previous Incredibles films.

The question now lies, when will we see Incredibles 3 in theaters? As you may recall, the film’s announcement was initially made during the 2024 D23 Expo. While no additional details have been revealed, we can speculate that a possible release date could be mid-June 2027 or sometime in 2028.
