Disney’s ‘Olaf’s Frozen Adventure’ Featurette to be Paired Alongside Pixar’s ‘Coco’

Disney 21-minute featurette ‘Olaf’s Frozen Adventure’ to be released alongside Pixar’s ‘Coco’ this November 22, 2017.

Announced this morning on Good Morning America, Disney’s new featurette, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure will be the short attached to Pixar’s Coco, in US theaters on November 22. The holiday-inspired short film will mark the first time that Walt Disney Animation Studios will showcase a short film/featurette alongside a Pixar Animation Studios feature film.

However, Pixar Animation Studios have had three short films paired with Disney feature films (see below). The only Pixar film that could be considered to have already had a Disney short film attached would be the 1995 release of Toy Story, some markets were shown a reissue of Rollercoaster Rabbit (a Roger Rabbit inspired short film) while others were paired with the Pixar Animation Studios original The Adventures of Andre and Wally B.

  • 2008 – Tokyo Mater (released with Bolt)
  • 2011 – Small Fry (released with The Muppets)
  • 2014 – Party Central (released with Muppets Most Wanted)

I’m thrilled that Disney Animation’s featurette ‘Olaf’s Frozen Adventure’ will be coming to theaters in November with Pixar’s ‘Coco,’” said John Lasseter, chief creative officer, Walt Disney, and Pixar Animation Studios. “It’s a perfect pairing – they’re both beautiful, heartfelt films about families and how people carry traditions forward. I can’t wait for audiences to get to see both of these terrific projects together on the big screen.”

The 21-minute featurette welcomes the original cast, characters, and four all-new songs. Directed by Emmy®-winning filmmakers Kevin Deters and Stevie Wermers-Skelton (“Prep & Landing”), produced by Oscar® winner Roy Conli (“Big Hero 6”), with original songs by Elyssa Samsel and Kate Anderson (“Between the Lines”), Olaf’s Frozen Adventure will be in theaters for a limited time. Watch the official trailer below or in theaters this upcoming weekend in front of Pixar’s Cars 3.

We also believe Olaf’s Frozen Adventure is the television special that was originally slated to air on ABC this holiday season (as announced by Oh My Disney in February 2016).
