Enter the world of Andy’s toys in the upcoming Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This morning during the Awaken Summer special event, Disney announced additional details surrounding the Toy Story park expansion — including the names of both themed attractions.
Before we explore the attractions though, you may notice a few changes to the original concept art released last August (see below). The removal of a toy barn, board game area, Luxo ball, and Woody’s Round-Up theming are some of the more noticeable alterations.
SLINKY DOG DASH
Toy Story Land will immerse guests into Andy’s backyard with the addition of two new attractions. According to Disney Parks Blog, The family roller coaster, Slinky Dog Dash, will feature a track built by Andy using his Mega Coaster Play kit incorporating dips, turns, and a few familiar toys on display. ALIEN SWIRLING SAUCERS
The second attraction, Alien Swirling Saucers, will leave guests saying “Oooooh”. Themed after our favorite three-eyed aliens, the swirling saucers will have guests flying around trying to avoid “The Claw”. As special sound and lighting effects enhance the thrill of the looming “Mystic Portal”, Imagineer, Kathy Magnum, also noted the attraction will feature “Space Jazz” tunes developed primarily for this experience. TURTLE TALK
The other Parks-and-Pixar-related news from the Awaken Summer event surrounded the addition of Finding Dory characters being welcomed into the “Turtle Talk” experience at Disney’s California Adventure (Disneyland) and Epcot (Disney World).
We had previously written about this in March when the announcement was first announced, but now we know that the official launch date will be in May to start experiencing the new characters!
