Pixar surprised fans this afternoon as they announced an updated release schedule for several films through 2019 – including dates for the previous unassigned Cars 3 and The Incredibles 2.
UPDATED: The next day, Disney announced two untitled Pixar films which are added to this list.
The most notable jump was for Cars 3 which was previously listed as “Coming Soon” but is now slated for June 16, 2017 (which was previously slotted for Toy Story 4). In the official image released on Pixar’s social media pages, fans were also extremely excited to see a date associated with the follow-up to The Incredibles (June 21, 2019) – although this means people are still going to be waiting a while.
What’s also interesting is that the release schedule was last announced at the 2015 D23 Expo, just two months ago. Below is a breakdown of the release dates comparing where the films were assigned previously, to where they are slotted as of today’s announcement.
