Inside Out Teaser Debuts at CinemaCon

During Disney’s presentation at the 2014 CinemaCon in Las Vegas this morning, they surprised the crowd by screening an updated clip from Pete Docter’s upcoming film, Inside Out. If you recall back to the 2013 D23 Expo, Pixar showed a short animatic of a scene (description pasted below) and according to The Hollywood Reporter, the clip shown was an updated, fully animated version of that same moment in the film.

…the emotion characters (Joy and Sadness) get lost inside Riley’s mind – leaving Anger, Disgust and Fear to run the show. Riley doesn’t have any Joy or Sadness at this point and her Mom senses that she’s only Angry, Disgusted and Fearful. As Riley’s Mom questions her, the three remaining emotions, attempt to take the place of the missing Joy emotion without success. Riley’s Mother then pulls in her Father, who’s emotions are watching hockey…all of them! Riley’s Father begins to question her and then she blows up in anger since that’s the emotion in charge at that time. The Mom then storms off and says, “Why didn’t I marry that Brazilian helicopter pilot?”

We can only speculate that this may mean that a similar teaser will be released more broadly following the CinemaCon event, so keep your eyes peeled. Inside Out is slated to hit theaters on June 19, 2015, and is certainly generating a lot of buzz not only among fans of Pixar but among Pixarians themselves. In fact, in an excerpt from Ed Catmull’s upcoming bookCreativity, Inc., Brad Bird sang his praises for the originality and complexity of Docter’s story. Animators have also been sounding off on Twitter expressing their love and excitement for the project as well.
