Pixar’s Merida Featured in New Disney Dream Portrait – Updated

Photographer Annie Leibovitz has added another Disney Dream Portrait to her already impressive resume, this time transforming Academy Award-nominated actress Jessica Chastain into Pixar’s very own Merida. Previously, the Disney Dream Portraits have featured Academy Award Winner Jennifer Hudson as Princess Tiana, as well as Actors Will Ferrell, Jason Segel, and Jack Black as the Haunted Mansion’s Hitchhiking Ghosts – just to name a few.

This Disney Dream Portrait marks the first time that a Pixar character is featured in the series and the casting of Chastain as Princess Merida was a perfect choice. Pictured with her signature bow-and-arrow as she rides through the Scottish countryside (along with Angus) is so beautifully captured it’s as if a screenshot from the film Brave was magically turned into real-life.

For a Behind-the-Scenes look at the photography session with Chastain and Leibovitz, watch the video from Entertainment Tonight, where we get to see some of the secrets behind Pixar’s first featured character in a Disney Dream Portrait.

This Brave-inspired Disney Dream Portrait is entitled “Where your destiny awaits,” will be featured in the February issue of O Magazine hitting newsstands soon.
