Earlier in the week, we were treated to a sneak peek of the Merida and Maleficent characters which will be included along with the release of Disney Infinity 2.0 this fall. Additional details and high-resolution images were released for the two characters this morning and just like the previous game figures, the design and details are amazing. We have to say that the small, clear blue Will-‘o-the-wisp at the feet of Merida’s figure is an amazing detail and we certainly hope it finds it way into the game as well.
We have also learned that Merida and Maleficent will be Toy Box figures only and will not be a part of a Play Set. Keep in mind that the Toy Box mode for Disney Infinity 2.0 is completely revamped and will contain mini-missions and in-game abilities than ever before – so the experience should be completely enhanced from the previous version. That being said, we were still hoping for an entire Brave Play Set but we’re still happy Merida will be included in the 2.0 release of the game.
ADDITIONAL FIGURE DETAILS
Players will be able to use both characters, plus hundreds of Disney-themed items, locations, props and vehicles, to create new adventures in customized worlds.
Merida: With her untamed fiery red locks, this headstrong Princess will definitely leave her mark in Disney Infinity. Between her sharp sword and bow combo attacks with ricocheting arrows, she can upgrade her aim with elemental freeze arrows, freezing enemies in front of her then following up with rapid shots showing off her impressive athletic skills as an archer and sword fighter.
Maleficent: The wicked title character from the upcoming Walt Disney Studios film employs numerous magical powers and can attack using her magic in melee and ranged combat. To defeat enemies, Maleficent has the ability to utilize projectile and area of effect attacks that affect multiple targets within a specified area, brambles that she summons from the ground and ravens that she can call on to attack targets.
I must say that both of the figure’s abilities sound amazing and I can’t wait to try Merida’s freeze arrows. So, now that you’ve had a chance to take a look, what are your thoughts on the new figures?
