Disney’s D23 kicked off their 23 Days of Disney Christmas celebration (UPDATED: Removed the link as it is no longer active), just a few days ago, but yesterday we were really excited to see a fun and unique Monsters University piece of Holiday artwork by Pixar’s own, Ricky Nierva.
Ricky was a natural fit for the creation of this piece as he was deeply involved in the production design for the movie. We love how the Oozma Kappa gang is decked out in their holiday gear, but our favorite element of the piece is Archie the Scare Pig with antlers and his red nose. (Don is his crazy Christmas sweater is a close second though.)
Are we the only ones that wish that this was also available as a Christmas card that could be sent out? This would be so perfect for us to send this year!
D23 is also holding a sweepstake to give away an embossed reproduction of one of the art pieces (distributed at random) from the 23 pieces featured. You can enter up to one time using your name, D23 member number and email address. (UPDATED: Removed the link as it is no longer active)
We’ll be sure to watch the 23 Days of Disney Christmas and post if any additional Pixar artwork pops up – if you spot any unique Pixar holiday artwork, let us know as well.
In addition to the Monsters U work above, Jerrod Maruyama (freelance), created a fun look at The Incredibles for the D23 site as well.
When you also head to the downloads page, you will also find a sketch of Mike and Sulley done by Pixar veteran, Pete Docter.
