Toy supplier Spin Master has inked a master license deal with Disney for the upcoming Disney/Pixar release of Monsters University.
Spin Master, founded in 1994 and headquartered in Canada noted on LicensingBiz (UPDATED: Link removed, the post is no longer active) that this is “one of the biggest” deals in the company’s 18-year history. “We’re all very excited about 2013 and the relationship with Disney. It’s a massive breakthrough for the company, to be positioned at the same level as some of those major competitors who would have had that license in the past. It’s a testimony to where the business is,” said Spin Master’s UK MD Kevin Jones.
Marianthi O’Dwyer, VP of licensing and publishing for The Walt Disney Company in the UK and Ireland, added: “Next year will be a monster one for Disney, with the release of Monsters University and the return of Monsters Inc.”
This deal was set in November 2012 but with the June release of Monsters University, we are so excited about the new toy merchandise that will be hitting store shelves this year!
