It was my birthday earlier in the month and I finally took the leap and got something I’ve always wanted — a Wacom drawing tablet. With so much Brave news floating around, I decided that my first test drawing would be King Fergus. I leafed through the Art of Brave book (Chronicle Books) for inspiration but actually ended up liking one of the sidebar drawings in the Learn to Draw – Brave book (Walter Foster Publishing) better.
The Learn to Draw books are filled with a lot of great ways to draw your favorite characters, but I always seem to be attracted to the tiny instructional drawings on the sides of the pages that highlight features of the character – for King Fergus, it highlighted his big hook nose, not a straight nose.
