In this video posted via YouTube by Disney Parks, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at what existing buildings along Route 66 inspired the Disney Imagineers for Disney’s Cars Land. The Imagineers followed in the same footsteps that John Lasseter and the Pixar team took when developing the Cars film.

Emily O’Brien, Principal Interior Designer of Imagineering narrates the journey along the winding Route 66, where we see the inspiration for Fillmore’s house, The Radiator Springs Curio Shop, and much more.  You also may recognize Michael Wallis, the voice of Sheriff – who John Lasseter credits as one of the best storytellers he’s ever heard.

Micheal was on-hand to assist the Imagineers as their expert guide along Route 66, as Michael is not only an actor but a historian and author of Route 66: The Mother Road (click to view the book on Amazon).
