Soul, Turning Red & Luca in Theaters Beginning This Week (Jan 12)

Announced in December, we’re thrilled that this week is officially the Pixar Special Theatrical Engagement kick-off (starting Jan 12). This special event brings the trio of films (Soul, Turning Red, and Luca), previously released exclusively on Disney+ during 2020-2022, to theaters. This will allow fans to view the films as they were meant to be seen — on the big screen!

SOUL, TURNING RED & LUCA RELEASE DATES

Each film will run as a limited engagement, finding its way into theaters one month at a time. Even better news is that each film will be paired with a Pixar Sparkshort or classic Pixar short film – read on for more details.

SOUL

Pixar Soul Barbershop

SOUL — in theaters January 12, 2024 (First released on Disney+ December 25, 2020). The film will be paired with one, or two short films.

  • Burrow (Sparkshort) – nationwide release.
  • Self (Sparkshort) – For folks near the El Capitan Theater in California, the newly announced Self will be played (Jan 12-18 only) after each screening of Soul.

TURNING RED

TURNING RED — in theaters February 9, 2024 (First released on Disney+ March 11, 2022). Paired with the Sparkshort, Kitbull.

LUCA

LUCA — in theaters March 22, 2024 (First released on Disney+ June 18, 2021). Paired with the classic short film, For the Birds.

Get your tickets now, as each of these films will only be released in theaters for a short time. Following the release of Luca in March, you’ll only have to wait until June 14, 2024, to catch Inside Out 2. Read up on all the Inside Out 2 news here.

  1. We are very happy about three Pixar films: Soul, Red and Lucas arriving in theaters as they returned to normal and we were able to see the three Disney-Pixar films that were held back due to the pandemic.
    I have all three DVDs and mission accomplished.
