Releasing on Wednesday, February 26, 2022, at Noon Central Time, a brand new limited-edition Coco vinyl will be for sale on Mondo’s Record Shop. With stunning new cover art by Nicole Gustaffson and liner notes by Drew Taylor, the splatter-style 180-gram 2-vinyl set is guaranteed to sell out like the previously released Ratatouille and Up vinyl.
UPDATED: Note that the vinyl sold out in about 2-3 minutes, but fear not, Mondo announced on Twitter that they would be re-pressing the Coco, Ratatouille, and Up releases this year. It was also noted that Disney Music Emporium would also be releasing another colorway for the Coco vinyl as well.
The official announcement notes, “Mondo, in proud partnership with Walt Disney Records, is pleased to present the soundtrack to Disney/Pixar’s COCO, featuring Michael Giacchino’s incredible original score, and songs from the film, including the Academy Award®- winning song Remember Me by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.”
If the release price is similar to the prior Pixar vinyl, it should be $35 USD.
Equally as exciting as the Coco release, Mondo teased that even more Michael Giacchino scores will be coming soon — let’s hope more of them are Pixar scores.
As mentioned above, the previously released Ratatouille (Nov 15, 2017) and Up (Sept 15, 2021) vinyl have sold out quickly and they can only be found through resellers on eBay or Amazon at this point (links below). It should be noted that when the Up vinyl was released, a restock of the Ratatouille vinyl also was released. The original edition of the Ratatouille vinyl was 2,000 copies, but, there was no mention of how many were included in the restock.
