Sun, Waves, and a Beautiful Italian Coast — Our Review of Pixar’s ‘Luca’ (Join us Live on YouTube)

Join us Live as we review Pixar’s summertime film, “Luca” on YouTube with some of our friends.

Have you seen Pixar’s sun-soaked film, Luca yet? If you haven’t, turn on your TV and start watching it on Disney+ now, and then join us on YouTube for our Live movie review with some friends (on June 23 at 10:00 PM ET / 7:00 PM PT).

We’ll be talking all about the story of Luca and Alberto’s friendship, the hilarious characters, and the amazing visuals and music from the film — and much more.

To us, one of the largest standouts from the film is the new art style which Enrico Casarosa (Director) and the team chose. From the beginning Enrico imagined the film to look like a storybook — and boy, did they nail it. In a recent interview, Daniela Strijleva (Production Designer) noted that the characters didn’t have some of the intricated details (common to Pixar characters) like pores. Instead, they have watercolor textures across their faces to give a more painterly look.

Not only did this new style look fantastic, but the acting and animation were equally as stunning. We were blown away by the snappy movements of characters like the town bully, Ercole, or the gesturing of the hilarious, Giulia.

We’ll dive into even more on YouTube on June 23 at 10:00 PM ET / 7:00 PM PT — we hope you join us and watch along.
