Are you ready to show your Monsters University school spirit? We know we are — and in the words of Mike Wazowski, “I’ve been waiting for this my whole life…” OK, maybe not our whole life but definitely since the June 2013 theatrical release of Pixar’s Monsters University. In fact, we loved the film so much that we made our own custom jacket, shirt, and replica Dream Journal. Although we did make our own version on the jacket, we always hoped that an official version would be released — and now it has.

This official ShopDisney Monsters University fleece varsity jacket (unisex $49.95) is perfect for the upcoming Fall season with its lightweight sweatshirt construction complete with hoodie, which for us, was the biggest draw to this jacket. The sizing runs slightly large, however, this makes for easy layering on days when it’s cooler. UPDATED: (Unfortunately, this is no longer available, browse ShopDisney for more great ideas).
When comparing the ShopDisney version and the film version of the MU jacket, you’ll see that they are nearly identical in looks. The detailing of the full embroidered (so cool) MU logo on the back (which measures, 12″ x 12″), and the MU varsity-style letterman applique on the front (which measures, 3.5″ x 5.5″) are flawless designs.
As a side note, the snaps on the ShopDisney MU jacket are located on the right side — which is generally where they are located women’s garments, men’s garments are typically located on the left (the film version jacket design shows the snaps on the left side, see above). While the snap location does not make a difference (and the official ShopDisney promotional photos show a male model wearing the jacket), we just thought we’d point it out since T.J. discovered it while trying on the jacket himself.
