SDCC Exclusive ‘The Making of Cars 3 Lightning McQueen’ Die-Cast Vehicle 3-Pack Will be a Fan Favorite

The 2017 San Diego Comic Con SDCC Lightning McQueen is amazing – it comes as a raw, unpainted McQueen, a painted version and a final version.
20177 SDCC Lightning McQueen Diecast

If you’re an avid Cars franchise die-cast collector (like we are), you may want to sit down before viewing all the details of the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) exclusive die-cast box set. When we first saw this Cars 3 Lightning McQueen-inspired set, our first thought was that this was truly made for the fans — and we couldn’t be more excited to get our hands on it.

The special collector’s edition comes with three 1:55 scale die-cast versions of Lightning McQueen:

  • The first body shows the raw metal and plastic foundation of the car.
  • The second enhances the car with added window deco and wheel rims.
  • The third and final stage is the fully decorated, fine-tuned vehicle, with Lightning McQueen’s expressive eyes, beaming grin, headlights and signature Rust-Eze logos.

The set can be pre-ordered today for $30.00 on the Mattel pre-order page (with a limit of three sets per SDCC customer) and must be picked up in person at the SDCC event — shipping is not an option. UPDATED – The link has been removed since the pre-order page is no longer active.

The outer and inner box has us just as excited that they took the time to design it to be just as appealing as the cars themselves — this is going to look fantastic on display.

Who likes this one as much as we do? Between this release and the Ultimate Lightning McQueenCars fans are certainly getting spoiled this year — get ready for the D23 Expo exclusive as well.
