Tonight, January 25, 2023, is a celebration of animation’s top honors — tonight is the night of the 50th Annual Annie Awards. The Annie Awards are presented to those who excel in the animation field and are voted upon by professionals of ASIFA Hollywood (International Animated Film Association).

Pixar Animation Studios received a total of 10 nominations for Turning Red, Lightyear, and the Disney+ series Cars on the Road. (Note – We will be live-updating this post as the awards are announced, including Pete Docter’s speech. He will receive one of the 2023 Winsor McCay Awards – honoring individuals who have had a significant impact in the field of animation.)

Previous Pixar recipients of the award have been Ralph Eggleston, Joe Ranft, Brad Bird, and John Lasseter.

It should also be noted that Ralph Eggleston was also featured in the “In Memoriam” section of this year’s awards since he passed away in August 2022.
