Pixar has officially released its first teaser trailer for Gatto, coming to theaters March 5, 2027. The teaser will be attached to the theatrical release of Toy Story 5, giving audiences their first look at Pixar’s latest original feature.
Mark Ruffalo (“Poor Things,” “The Avengers,” “Spotlight, “Foxcatcher”) has joined the voice cast as the scrappy black cat Nero, and Laurence Fishburne (“The Matrix” trilogy, “Boyz n the Hood,” “What’s Love Got to Do with It”) will voice the ruthless mob boss cat Rocco.
The teaser showcases numerous cats on a roof with the camera panning down to show Nero with a mob-boss cat named Rocco, who seems to be interacting with another cat about some missing tuna.
One detail that immediately stood out to us was the resemblance between Rocco and Uncle Ugo from Luca. From the wonky eyes to the overall character design, the similarities are hard to ignore – in the best way!
Directed by Enrico Casarosa and produced by Andrea Warren, Gatto looks unlike anything Pixar has done before, blending the hand-painted textures with a touch only Pixar could create.
In addition to the teaser trailer, Pixar has unveiled the first teaser poster for Gatto, offering another glimpse of the film’s artistic setting and the perils Nero will face.
After getting this first glimpse into Nero’s world, Gatto has quickly become one of our most anticipated Pixar films. We must say, from Hoppers to Toy Story 5, and now moving with Gatto on the horizon, we feel like we’re back in the Golden Age of Pixar, and it feels amazing.
