Jack Black Almost Voiced Syndrome – and He Says He Still Regrets It!

Jack Black and Syndrome (from Pixar's The Incredibles)

In a candid new interview with Capital FM (UK radio show), beloved actor/comedian Jack Black opened up about one of his biggest career regrets – turning down the chance to voice Syndrome in Pixar’s The Incredibles. A film, he goes on to say, is one of his all-time favorite films.

Black revealed that he was originally offered the role during early conversations with Director Brad Bird, but passed on it because he wasn’t familiar with Bird and he felt the character needed more depth. After asking for rewrites and being turned down, the part ultimately went to Jason Lee, and The Incredibles became one of Pixar’s most iconic films.

Looking back, Black calls it “one of my biggest regrets and admits he learned a valuable lesson and questioned why he was being so difficult. Watch the interview below; the conversation starts at 11:17.

So, what do you think about this interesting reveal? Do you think Jack Black would have made for a good Syndrome? Do you think we might see him voice a new character in the third installment of The Incredibles? In any regard, it’s always fun to learn behind-the-scenes information from any Pixar film.
