Pixar has released the teaser trailer for HOPPERS, and it looks wild, hilarious, and completely original. Be sure to watch the teaser embedded below and then check out our interview with Director Daniel Chong paired with the trailer’s release.

During our conversation with Daniel, we gained some great insights into the origins of the story, the design of the characters’ eyes, and even got a tip about a For the Birds easter egg that we’ll have to keep our eyes out for.

The trailer was a similar version to what was shown at the Annecy Animation Film Festival held in June. We were glad to see what the folks experienced last month.

Prior to the teaser’s release, we interviewed Director Daniel Chong, during which we discussed the origin of HOPPERS and how the film idea was first conceived. Daniel recalled watching animal documentaries, where they would set up animal robots to “spy” on and observe animal behavior. Daniel shared that the film has heart, humor, and themes of humans coexisting with humans, with some spy elements, of course.

The main animal character was originally intended to be another woodland creature, rather than the beaver as it is today. Daniel shared that the change was made when they studied beavers and observed how all the animals in the woods gather near the beavers’ den, making the beaver the best animal to “hop” to.

HOPPERS SYNOPSIS

What if you could talk to animals and understand what they’re saying? In Pixar’s all-new feature film, Hoppers, scientists have discovered how to “hop” human consciousness into lifelike robotic animals, allowing people to communicate with animals as animals!

The adventure introduces Mabel, an animal lover who seizes an opportunity to use the technology, uncovering mysteries within the animal world that are beyond anything she could have imagined. Directed by Daniel Chong and produced by Nicole Paradis Grindle, HOPPERS opens in theaters March 6th, 2026.
