The upcoming D23 Expo is just a week away and today a complete list of events, panels, presentations, and signings were released via the official D23 Expo app.  Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Animation Studios will share the show floor in one incredible animated booth which will feature artist demonstrations, fan giveaways and incredible interactive displays for all ages during the magical 3-day event. In total, the D23 Expo will include 17 Pixar related events for fans to attend.

FRIDAY – JULY 14

Pixar in a Box – A Demo. 11:00 AM -12:00 PM

Join us for a live demonstration and presentation with Pixar University Director, Joshua Hollander. Pixar in a Box is a behind-the-scenes look at the studio’s filmmaking pipeline showing how Pixar uses academic principles from the fields of math, science, and the humanities to address creative challenges. This presentation will introduce you to this inspiring program, sharing the philosophy and history behind it, showing examples from the lessons, and providing an overview of how it works.

Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios: The Upcoming Films, hosted by John Lasseter. 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM

Join host John Lasseter, chief creative officer of Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios, as he presents Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios: The Upcoming Films. Watch never-before-seen footage from Pixar’s upcoming feature Coco and Walt Disney Animation’s Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, and be prepared for surprise announcements, musical performances, and appearances by star voice talent. Cell phones, cameras, and all recording devices will be checked for this presentation.

A Tour of Pixar and How we Make Our Films (Prizes Included). 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM

Pixar Animation Studios, Shading Art Director, and current Manager of Art & Film Education, Tia Kratter – takes you on a behind-the-scenes tour through the halls of Pixar and includes some trivia fun and prizes along the way.

Marc Davis Goes to WED – The Amazing Artistry and Designs of the Legendary Disney Imagineer (Pete Docter presenting). 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM

When Walt Disney asked directing animator Marc Davis to “take a look” at some of his attractions at Disneyland in late 1960, it began a second career for one of his top animators – who immediately began working for WED Enterprises, now known as Walt Disney Imagineering. Davis led the design efforts and strove to inject his trademark humor into attractions like the “Jungle Cruise,” “Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room,” “America Sings,” and many, many other Disney theme park classics. Join Pixar’s Pete Docter and Walt Disney Imagineering’s Christopher Merritt as they share amazing and unseen artwork and photographs they have discovered in the process of writing a new book on this Imagineering Legend.

D23 Expo “Drawing Demo” with Jay Shuster. 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Learn how to draw WALL•E from the artist who created him. Production Designer, Jay Shuster holds an interactive drawing demonstration for Expo guests.

Creating the Worlds in Pixar’s Universe. 12:15 PM – 1:15 PM

Pixar’s films are filled with beloved characters living in relatable yet previously unimagined worlds. Join Pixar production designers and artists who have created the mountaintops, oceans and ‘monstropolises’ that your favorite characters live in. These artists create the setting and cultivate the mood of every scene using research, incredible imagination and each individual director’s vision – giving life to the amazing world’s in Pixar’s movies. Presenting will be Sharon Calahan (Director of Photography, Lighting), Harley Jessup (Production Designer), and Ralph Eggleston (Production Designer, Incredibles 2).

Disney and Pixar Did That? Advertisements and Animated Commercials. 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Join archivists and research specialists from across the Walt Disney Company who help oversee Disney and Pixar historical collections as they share with you rarely seen advertising campaigns and animated commercials spanning from the 1930’s to Pixar’s efforts of the 1990’s. Through artwork, film clips and stories behind some of the familiar, yet not-so-familiar projects, learn about a little-known aspect of the creative history of Disney and Pixar while gaining new perspectives on the productions and products themselves.

The Evolution of Pixar’s Characters. 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM

From the waves in their hair to the shoes on their feet, Pixar characters are designed to be full of personality and to tell a story. Hear from the legendary Pixar artists who have created the most memorable characters in Pixar’s history. These are the visionaries who start with an initial doodle and see the evolution of a character through to final animation – the people who let technology influence the art and make the impossible, possible. Presenting will be Daniel Arriaga (Character Art Director, Coco), Pete Docter (Director), and Tia Kratter (Manager of Art & Film Education, Pixar University).

SUNDAY – JULY 16

Bringing the Music of “Coco” to Life with Cordoba Guitars. Music is a central theme in the upcoming Disney•Pixar film “Coco”. In celebration of the film, Cordoba guitars will present their authentic nylon string replicas through story and song.
