Welcome to Battleopolis: Our ‘Toy Story That Time Forgot’ Blu-ray & Digital Review

Toy Story That Time Forgot Screencap

Toy Story That Time Forgot, the 22-minute special that premiered on television on December 2, 2014, is now available on digital, DVD, and Blu-ray. This past year retailers stocked their shelves with Battlesaur action figures and the popular Angel Kitty plush, however, fans of the film had to wait until November 3 of this year to own this epic expansion of the Toy Story franchise.

Speaking of easter eggs, during our recent conversation with director Steve Purcell we learned that the three stylized posters behind Mason in the video game room represent upcoming Pixar films – Coco, Inside Out, and Cars 3.

Beyond the film itself there is an easter egg within the Blu-ray menu – just highlight the Reptillus! bonus feature and click the RIGHT arrow on your remote twice and you’ll notice the eye on Reptillus’s apartment light up. This easter egg features Rex and Buzz toolkit animations as they run from the Battlesaurs (with two additional pieces of concept art) — for even more hidden references be sure to check our Toy Story That Time Forgot in-depth easter egg post.

As we dove into the treasure trove of bonus features on the Toy Story That Time Forgot Blu-ray we were thrilled with the amount of behind-the-scenes footage that was showcased. Our favorite bonus feature, Reptillus!, highlighted the backstory of the Battlesaurs which included a delightful explanation of Reptillus’ origins by the head of story, Derek Thompson.

Other features include clips of the Toy Story That Time Forgot crew at San Diego Comic-Con, a 2D animated Battelsaur intro, and a slew of deleted scenes — all of which won’t disappoint. The entire team behind Toy Story That Time Forgot outdid themselves with a wonderful story, epic character designs, and incredible camera work — here’s to hoping we see a Battlesaur or two in the upcoming Toy Story 4 or perhaps an upcoming Toy Story Toon.
