After attending the Monsters University two-day press event and getting a behind-the-scenes look at the process of making this hilarious and heartfelt feature film, I thought that our readers would enjoy a sneak peek as well.
Below are photos that were shared with us from Pixar, highlighting a small snippet of the process of making a Pixar film. Keep in mind that these photos only scratch the surface of the amount of hard work and talented individuals that are behind each Pixar film as only a few Pixarians are shown in the photos. The Monsters University team was comprised of a couple hundred Pixarians and every single person played an integral role in the making of this film.
The lead image on this post is a photo of Director Dan Scanlon with artist Paul Abadilla during an Art Review on September 1, 2011, at Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville, California.

During the Monsters University press event it was interesting how much they stressed the importance of collaboration between the different departments to achieve cohesiveness throughout the look and flow of the film.
In the photo above, Director Dan Scanlon and Dice Tsutsumi discuss the color scripts during a Monsters University art review on September 12, 2012, at Pixar.
Did you know that the color script of the film is followed by each department working on the film? During the press event, I was lucky enough to discuss the color script with Sets Art Director, Robert Kondo who explained that the color script sets the lighting, emotion, and overall color tone of the entire film. You can listen to our interview with Robert Kondo on our Pixar Post Podcast Episode 011.
